An analysis of why the Obama administration didn't want to refer to the attack as a "terrorist attack."
This sort of official dissembling is as appalling
as it is standard-operating procedure for U.S. governments. Why
would it take several weeks for Obama and his administration - the
one that was going to be so transparent about everything, right? -
to come even vaguely clean about the attack? And even in
yesterday's U.N. talk, Obama seemed to be suggesting that
recent and rampant anti-American actions in the Middle East had
more to do with "The Innocence of Muslims" than with larger issues
of U.S. policy in the area.
